Senior New Media Solutions Developer

Job Description

We require a highly motivated individual to help us to continue to deliver high quality ecommerce and content management solutions. We want someone who is interested in the big idea and is passionate about solutions development and the opportunities that the online world provides.

Our perfect candidate will have experience in and an exceptional understanding of online business systems. You must be able to think conceptually and laterally as well as within technical guidelines. You work well in a team as well as on your own and are able to manage and own projects while getting your hands dirty. Your portfolio will contain evidence of cutting edge bespoke development experience, along with demonstrating a passion for development and building systems online.

Key tasks

Reporting to the Creative Director the responsibilities of this role are:

  • A proactive individual with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Able to act as a technical ambassador for us in pitches and client presentations
  • A healthy understanding and regard for the commercial necessities and the bottom line. We value ideas but also practicality
  • Knowledge of the concepts of online usability and accessibility
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technologists and client managers
  • Understanding the needs of our client base and working with them to develop tight technical briefs
  • The development of inspiring, effective and appropriate solutions based upon these briefs
  • The implementation of these solutions either by yourself or by the effective management of other members of the development team

Key skills and attributes

Primarily, requires experienced PHP and MySQL developer with preferably 5 years experience including exposure to OO methodology and database design. Additional development technologies required will include, ASP, Microsoft SQL Server, IIS, Javascript, Actionscript, Flash/PHP communication and SSL.Additional duties/requirements will include:

  • Elements of Server Administration and shell scripting including Apache, MySQL installation and configuration.
  • Liaising with suppliers support teams to resolve problems.
  • Experience of developing within Linux environment, including SSH and standard UNIX commands.
  • Management of day to day running of servers and clients hosting packages including domains / emails through Server Control Panels (PLESK and CPANEL).
  • Ability to diagnose problems and provide of technical support for Email, domain and Web issues..
  • Mentoring and potential on-site training to other members of the team.
  • Some travel to client sites may be required.
